Gay artist under pressure: 'I won't stop creating'
A gay artist continues creating despite rising attacks. He refuses to be silenced.
Attacks on gay and queer artists are increasing. Yet this artist refuses to give up. The pressure is real, but not enough to silence him.
His current series draws from different sources of inspiration. Personal experiences play a major role. Stories from others in the community affect him deeply. He saw colleagues being attacked. Some stopped creating. Others became more cautious. That hurt him.
"That's exactly why I continue," he says. "If artists choose silence, those who want to muzzle us win. I won't accept that." He knows the risks are real. Online hate messages happen daily. Yet speaking his truth feels necessary to him.
His work explores identity, love, and resistance. These aren't political statements. Rather, they're personal expressions. Yet people often read them that way. "I create because I must," he explains. "It's about expressing myself without fear." This stance should inspire others in the art world too.
